The fierce gale force winds continue unabated. To be really honest, they kept waking me up in the night. They are powerful and noisy, so I am feeling very happy tonight that all is quiet outside - at the moment! But the sky was and has remained completely blue all day. We had brekkie and make our way onto the main road to Lloret-de-Mar but, my darling sister in law, Julie, asked me if we going to L’Escala which reminded Alan that they had visited this area when he was 16/17. Of course, since then, he has developed a great love of all things Roman - we have spent a lot of time in Italy and particularly Rome in the past, so to me it made perfect sense to get over here so Al could visit the Roman Ruins. Well, as luck would have it, we did a search in Park4Night and found this perfect spot, right beside the entrance to the ruins. Not only that, it’s free and to add to that we are on the beach. Happy days! as my darling father in law always used to say - happy days indeed - so we didn’t stop anywhere en route and Alan bought his baguette before we left Roses. We arrived quite early so took a wonderful walk across the beaches and dunes, ending up on the horseshoe beach you see in the photographs on social media. I took Tom for a wonderful walk across the beach, picking up shells as we went. The wind was still very strong at this point so we still needed our gilets most of the time. The other joyous thing was, that whilst Alan took his tour of Empuries, I was able to sit outside the van with Tom and read my book. I do love to read and holidays are the only time we really do get the opportunity. I’ve lost count how many books I’ve got through so far, but to be able to sit outside today with the sun on us was just perfect. Alan was gone for just over an hour and he really enjoyed his tour and the museum all for 4€. Pretty good I reckon. We may stay here a bit longer, but we are definitely going over to L’Escala proper tomorrow to revisit the area Alan and his family visited so many years ago. Lloret will have to wait for a day or so. Sleep well nighty night
